Correction and relief of pain associated with bunions

Flexible Corrective Orthosis of Bunions DAY |

To correct, limit and reduce the development of Hallux valgus (bunion) during the day

Flexible Corrective Orthosis of Bunions DAY | To correct, limit and reduce the development of Hallux valgus (bunion) during the day

Corrective orthosis can easily fit in all kinds of shoes thanks to its flexible and ultra thin patented design.

The patented external tendon in silicone EPITHELIUM™ FLEX enables the straightening-up of the big toe and also enable the absorption of pressures on the “hallux valgus” (bunion) and thus relieve pain.

The EPITHELIUM™ patch creates a comfortable end-stop with the shoe-support and thereby allows pushing the 1st metatarsal back. The extra thin metatarsal bangle of contention shall inhibit the squashing and the widening of the forefoot.

Machine-washable at 40°C.

A long lasting life span.

What is Hallux Valgus (Bunion)?

The Hallux valgus is characterized by the deviation of the big toe towards the 2nd toe. The first metatarsal head becomes fairly pronounced and is then referred to as a ‘bunion’. This deformation affects about 5 to 10% of the population and can be very disabling. Bunions are usually caused by a combination of the way we walk, the foot we inherit and inappropriate footwear use.

Who is most affected by Hallux Valgus (Bunion)?

Several studies on this pathology of the foot show that there is a congenital predisposition (in 1/3 cases): the deformation and the bunion then appear before age 15; a predisposition for sex: women are nine times more affected than men and a predisposition in people who uses tight shoes and pointed ends.

How does Hallux Valgus (bunion) evolve?

At first, the pain occurs after walking: there is a simple inflammation sometimes associated with bursitis (fluid-filled sac), which can infect. The deformity of the foot continues to evolve to very painful episodes interspersed with periods without pain. The consequences are felt around the foot: pain in the forefoot - the deviation of the big toe causes a chang in the support: toe no longer plays its load bearing paper and is then transferred to the second and third metatarsals; fingers exert friction to increase adhesion; they begin to appear
corns between the toes or overlapping on the dorsal surface of the fingers claw.

What are the solutions to relieve pain associated with Hallux Valgus (bunion)?

Above all, it is essential to wear suitable footwear to prevent overpressure and excessive friction over the bunion, not using pointed ends and thin shoes.
If the pain is occasional and at the beginning, the application of BUNION DRESSING with Epithelium® is a valuable solution. If the pain is recurrent or permanent, it is preferable to use HALLUX VALGUS (bunions) PROTECTION. Bunions are often associated with plantar pain (callosities under the second and third metatarsals), the Double Protection cushions being the most suitable next device. To prevent the big toe and the second toe do not overlap, the HALLUX VALGUS (bunions) PROTECTION work very well. All of these products offer an undeniable relief, but are not intended to correct the bunion. Finally, if the pain is really unbearable and deformation excessive, surgery should be considered.

What is the solution to slow and correct deformation associated with the Hallux Valgus (bunion)?

EPITACT® offers a complete range to retard and correct the deformation associated with Hallux Valgus (bunion). During the day, it is recommended to use the Daytime Flexible Corrective Orthosis of Bunions. It promotes hallux (toe) alignment and, thanks to its flexible design and patented EPITHELIUM® FLEX technology, adapts to any type of footwear. It is the ideal solution to use during the day (while walking), correcting the hallux deviation and limiting all factors that may aggravate the deformation. Also for daily use, and as a milder and more discreet alternative to the Daytime Flexible Corrective Orthosis of Bunions, it is recommended to use the Bunion Corrector. Its ergonomic shape coupled with the pliability of the silicone gel translates into immediate comfort and ensures smooth hallux (big toe) alignment, reducing pressure and friction. At night, it is recommended to use the Night Bunion Correction Orthosis. This orthosis has a thermo-movable reinforcement that ensures the hallux (big toe) axis correction, limiting the retraction of the ligaments during.
